Prioritizing People
My creative endeavors have helped to connect me to some of the greatest friendships in my life. I’ve met so many cool people through the years and I really am so thankful for everyone of them. Some people challenge you, some help connect you, some consistently give you work, some are just cool hangs, and everyone is significant in one way or another.

But there are those people that you really connect with on a deep level. They become life long friends and are people that you keep in your circle because they champion you, they care about you, they make you better, and give you life.

I have the fortune of having a few of those people in my life, but it didn’t just happen. The friendships that I have that I cherish so much happened because we were intentional about it and we keep being intentional about it. We found it valuable to hang out, spend time together, and to prioritize that time.

About a year ago I was texting with one of these friends and I said, “Hey, we should get lunch.” This would usually turn into nothing because we were both always so busy, but we both just decided we were going to grab breakfast every other Friday morning and we made it a priority. We did and for the most part we’ve had breakfast every other Friday for a year. It’s been great to have time to chat work, creativity, family, and life.

It got me thinking about more people and I ended up setting time like this aside with a few close friends and it’s been invaluable to stay connected to these people and have regular times to hang, encourage each other, share ideas, and even create stuff together.

I tell you this to blatantly encourage you to do the same.

Friendship is a necessity in life and especially for those of us who are creative and tend to deal with depression, loneliness, and self-doubt at alarming levels.

I really encourage you to think of 2-3 people that you know encourage you, challenge you, help you, and share similar goals or values and just make it a priority to spend time together. Put it on the calendar, make it recurring, pick the same coffee shop or bar, and if you’re both well and in town then BE THERE. Fight for it.

I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today without the friends I have in my life. It’s hard to make things a priority when you’re busy or when you’re tired, but every time I make it happen I’m glad that I did. I always leave these hangs feeling better than I did before. That’s what friendship does.

Find your people and fight for time with them. It matters.

MY⚡️Finds

cool stuff I found this week

Wireless Charger
I went completely to wireless charging for my phone, airpods, and watch a while back because I got tired of buying and breaking charging cables! I liked these charging stations so much that I bought 2 of them. They charge all my devices in one place and I keep one in my bedroom and one in my studio. They also collapse well for travel. Check it out here

Monopod
A friend of mine bought me this incredible monopod because he was using one to shoot all his social media content and knew I could use one myself. It’s incredibly sturdy, comes in a great carrying case for easy travel and it folds up super small. Check it out here

If you deal with electronics of any kind chances are you’ve come across a dirty connection. I get the small spray cans of Deox-it brand corrosion cleaner and they work wonders. I use it on my guitars, pedalboard, and every connection in my studio that every gets dirty. Buy it here
