MY⚡️FI MONDAY

Calculators, Practice, and the Chompi Club

MY⚡️Feature

Knowing and Doing
I started working on a solo project at the beginning of this year and I realized that some of the things I did last year were actually the things making it possible for me to make this record myself. Last year, I started doing music for TV and film. They were just basic cues, but it got me in the habit of recording and mixing like I hadn’t done in years. That practice exposed things I didn’t know, things I wasn’t great at, and problems I needed to solve.

I started taking some online courses on production, mixing, and mastering. I’ve done all of it to varying degrees throughout the years and to be honest it was humbling in a sense to feel like a student again.

What I learned was that my current artistic expression will always have a ceiling based on what I know and what I can do. Therefore, I have a responsibility to raise the ceiling myself through what I learn and putting it into practice. Then, new things become possible for me in my expression.

Ultimately, growing in my craft should open new possibilities for me to express myself creatively. It’s not just about learning new things. It’s also about creating rhythms to put that new knowledge into practice so that my creative expression expands.

We need to learn, but sometimes simply acquiring knowledge can be a false sense of growth. There is so much content available in the world today that we have to be careful to learn at a rate that we can actually apply.

Learn, learn, learn will not get you where you want to go. Learn, practice, learn, practice, learn, practice is the process that will increase not just your knowledge, but also your ability.

The palette of our artistic expression is limited or expanded by both what we know and what we can do. We must increase both so that we can create with more emotion, more power, and more uniqueness than ever.

Start learning and apply what you learn. It will open up all kinds of new opportunity and give you more confidence than you’ve ever had to create the way only you can.

I’ve created a tool that could help with this. It’s called the MY⚡️FI CREATIVE CLARITY PLANNER and you can get it FREE by clicking the link.

I discovered this app on a google search while I was trying to do some musical math and it’s come in handy more times than I can count. Lumina
If you don’t know, I do a podcast twice a month surprisingly called, MYFI. I wanted to improve my webcam for the show and in doing research came across this great webcam that I absolutely love called Lumina. As creative people we typically spend ridiculous amounts of time in a chair. I sit in the chair in my studio for hours a day, so this past year on Black Friday, I did a bunch of research and found an incredible office chair for the money. Super comfortable, leather, arms that fold out of the way for playing guitar, and more… get one HERE.
