MY⚡️Feature
featured piece of advice for creatives and creative leaders
Right now, as I’m typing this week’s newsletter, I have a project that is staring me in the face that makes me insecure. I’m nervous about it. It’s going great and I’m making progress and I’m learning a lot of new things along the way. I know I can get it done and deep down I’m really enjoying it, but it still makes me nervous.
Last week, I played live with some friends, and as we walked on stage for one of the sets I got that overwhelming nervous feeling. Not sure what it feels like to you, but for me, I get a little hot, start sweating a bit, and even shake a little.
I had someone ask me recently if I still get nervous before I play and I said, “Absolutely!”. I’ve literally played live thousands of times, I’ve been in loads of songwriting sessions and recording sessions, I’ve been playing music for over 75% of my life, and I still get a little nervous every time.
Maybe it’s the imposter syndrome that gets us all from time to time. Maybe it’s insecurity when I know I’m in a room full of people better than me (which is a lot!). Maybe it’s the vulnerability of playing my instrument in front of hundreds or thousands of people. Whatever it is…
I’m glad I still get nervous.
There’s a little part of my nerves and insecurity that remind me that what I’m doing is still significant to me. It still matters. I still want to do a great job in every situation I’m in.
Your nerves can mean you’re in situations that are making you better.
Your nerves can mean you’re around people that can make you better.
Your nerves are a good sign that this thing still matters to you.
Nerves are not unprofessional and they aren’t the sign that you’re still a rookie at this. Nerves, at least for me, are a sign to me that I still love this, it matters, I care, it’s significant, and I’m thankful for those nerves.
As much as I hate the nervous feeling of potential failure, it’s necessary in order to experience the wonderful feeling of potential of greatness.
So be nervous.
Now, what if you aren’t nervous? Well, shake it up. Go work with some different people, get in a different environment, take on a job that intimidates you. I’m not just telling you to do something, I’m speaking from experience.
No one does great things comfortably.
I work with creative people almost every day, helping them in a myriad of ways. I would love to grab a FREE phone call with you and see if one on one creative coaching could help… just click here.

MY⚡️Finds
cool stuff I found this week
Highlighters
I’m an avid reader. I usually have about 4-6 books going at once and one of the things that helps me remember and apply what I’m reading is highlighting them. I found these incredible highlighters that don’t bleed through pages and dry quickly. If you read and highlight stuff they are a must have!! Get them HERE!
Case & Wallet
I recently found a new phone case and magnetic wallet that I wanted to share because it’s literally something we use every day. I did a load of research because I don’t change phone cases often. If you’re in the market, these are fantastic. Click HERE for the Phone Case. Click HERE for the magnetic wallet.

Charger Cables
If you’re like me, you need charger cables for your iPhone that can withstand the rigors of travel. I don’t want to buy a new charging cable every month so I was stoked that I found one that has actually lasted. Now, I’m still on my trusty iPhone 13 Pro so it’s a lighting cable. Get it here in a 3 pack.
Label Maker
Nerd alert!!! I have a label maker that I just love and whenever I post a picture of my pedalboard people always ask how I make my labels. Well, here it is. I have had this thing for years. Get yours HERE.
